The Zamir Chorale of Boston will honor Alan Teperow and Suzanne Hanser and Nancy and Peter Finn at JaZZamir: An Evening of Jewish and Israeli Jazz, on Sunday, June 6, 2010, 8:00 pm at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge. Conducted by Zamir’s Artistic Director Joshua Jacobson, JaZZamir will feature Hankus Netsky, band director; Gabrielle Orcha, choreographer, and guest artists: Daniel Stepner, Amir Milstein, and Eli Newberger.

Highlights include tunes by Dave Brubeck, Kurt Weill, Jef Labes, Ziggy Elman, as well as George Gershwin's "I Got Rhythm" and selections from Porgy and Bess, "A Yidisha Charleston," "Venezuela," "Niga El Ha-Chalom," and "Java Jive" (in Hebrew).

About our Honorees:

Alan Teperow and Suzanne HanserDr. Suzanne Hanser is the founding chair of the Music Therapy Department at Berklee College of Music. Dr. Hanser is music therapist at the Leonard P. Zakim Center for Integrated Therapies at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and a Visiting Research Associate at the Women's Studies Research Center at Brandeis University. She is Past President of both the World Federation of Music Therapy and the National Association for Music Therapy. Recognized internationally for her impact on the field of music therapy, Suzanne was named by the Boston Globe as one of eleven Bostonians Changing the World. Suzanne is a member of the Board of Directors of Zamir.

Alan Teperow (aka "Tep") has served as Executive Director of the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts since 1982 and is the Managing Director of the Massachusetts Board of Rabbis. Tep has been Chair of the Board of Directors of Zamir for six years, during which time he revived the Alumni Association and brought it to its current popularity. A founding member of Zamir (he was Josh's roommate in 1969-70), he sang with the Chorale for its first five years, and currently sings in Koleinu. Tep was the Hornstein Program's commencement speaker at Brandeis University in 2008 and is the recipient of the Bernard Reisman Award in Professional Leadership.

Peter B. Finn is a senior partner with the law firm of Rubin and Rudman where he specializes in biotechnology and life sciences law. A founder of Zamir, Peter was Chairman of the Board of Directors for five years. Active in the community, he has served as the President of Jewish Big Brother Big Sister Association, a board member of the Maimonides School, the Buckingham Browne and Nichols School and the Museum of Science. He is currently on the board of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and the local boards of the American Jewish Committee and the Technion University. Peter and Nancy Finn

Nancy B. Finn is a marketing communication consultant and the author of three books focused on communication and technology. Her latest book, Digital Communication in the Medical Practice, was published in 2009 by Springer Publishing. A member of Zamir's Board of Directors, Nancy chaired Zamir's marketing efforts for many years. She is a member of the Temple Aliyah Board of Directors, chaired the Temple's Strategic Planning process and has been an active member of Hadassah. She sings with Koleinu and is a member of the Boston Symphony Association of Volunteers (BSAV). She also serves on Mount Auburn Hospital's Board of Overseers.

Sanders Theatre is located inside Memorial Hall at 45 Quincy Street in Cambridge.

For those traveling to Sanders Theatre by car, free parking will be available from one hour pre-performance to one hour post-performance. The Broadway Garage is located on Felton Street, between Broadway and Cambridge Street. Patrons need to tell the attendant that they are attending a Sanders Theatre event. They will receive a swipe ticket, which they will use to get back into the garage after the show, and which they will use to exit. There is NO PARKING at Memorial Hall.

Handicapped Accessible parking may be available at a nearby location by special arrangement in advance with Marie Trottier at Harvard University, call 617.495.1859 Monday-Friday 9am - 5pm. Please contact M. Trottier at least ONE WEEK PRIOR to the event, we may not be able to accommodate last minute requests.
